The fabrication of gunpowder is a metaphor for the Ouroboros. Its mineral components were extracted from the earth through the explosive use of gunpowder itself. This is how its elements were obtained, later mixed to produce more of this energetic mix. It forms an eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, as symbolized by the ancient serpent that bites its own tail.In Chile, we say one must be careful not to “step on their own tail”, a popular phrase that refers to someone contradicting themselves. This allegory invites us to question whether the serpent’s cycles of gunpowder are truly virtuous or vicious.
