/Showcased in “Freundeskreis, collective exhibition at S6, curated by Omer Polak/
A
bronze tree hangs from the ceiling as if it was an orchestrated DNA chain. Its
links find their position thanks to a flourishing rod of copper crystals that
pull and align the structure.
Copper
is the core of the Chilean Andes, the place where I was born and raised. It is
also the core of bronze, the half-blood metal that finds its strength through
the aggregation of tin. The complement of both creates a new material with
emergent properties.
We
are bronze bodies. Like many Chileans, our family is a mixture. To celebrate
our heritage, it is crucial to embrace the weight of our origins.
Ace
of Wands is a mineral metaphor for the emancipation of miscegenation, a
celebration of the potential flourishing energy that emerges from the meeting
of two realities.
